Bark in the Park

Gryffin & I would like to thank all of you who donated to Team Swiss Lick! We raised $545, including a corporate donation.

Saturday was a gorgeous day! The type that makes me miss living downtown. (Until I had to deal with traffic getting back to LSD on the way home…) It was clear and sunny, and got up to about 65 degrees. Gryffin has never been downtown before, and as I was approaching the lake in the car, I think he thought that perhaps we were approaching the Gulf of Mexico. He got very excited–very wiggly. Maybe he & I were going to have a week at the beach without those other dogs or distractions.

I don’t think he was disappointed when we reached Montrose Harbor. As we were walking towards the tents, we found a beagle to play with, which made him very happy. Gryffin will always love beagles. He heard it before he saw it and perked up (weird, as he was already perky) immediately.

We met Vasey the Swissy and her human, Layla (11 month old girl) and Tank (9 months, I think). We found a few other non-club people while there, and one of them, Paula and her Swissy Ox (short for Oxford), walked with us. It was fun to have a bunch of Swissies together. Gryffin was the father figure (ha), and preferred to be rubbed and petted by people as opposed Swissy play time. Tank, Vasey and Layla had some good play time. I’m somewhat surprised they had enough energy to walk 3.1 miles, but they did it.

Bark in the Park

Gryffin and I will be participating in the Bark in the Park fundraiser on May 2nd.

Bark in the Bark is a 5k/3.1m walk for dogs and their servants humans. The funds will go to the Anti-Cruelty Society’s animal welfare programs that help 50,000 animals and humans each year. The Anti-Cruelty Society is Chicago’s Oldest and largest comprehensive, open-door humane society.
