I’ll admit, part of me did not want to go back to Freeport on Sunday with Indy. But I got pretty pumped up working with Dick from Shalay and felt we could do better.

We got to the fairgrounds a little after 10am on Sunday. We didn’t show until 12:45pm. Dick worked with me on grooming a bit in addition to more practice from the day before. Then I set out to walk Indy all over the place. Within 5 minutes, I stepped in some soft doggy doo that someone had decided not to clean up. That was a lovely experience, and my shoes smelled until I got home to clean them after 4pm. But it was good to get Indy used to the new lead and more used to the grounds in general.

After an hour or so of this, we went back and worked on showing teeth and general practice for me. Then we went and hung out by the ring to watch this judge and how she works. She was a little different, but I thought we would be ok.

Around 1:15pm, we went into the ring to show. This judge was completely different than Saturday’s judge. She was responsive, kind and supportive when I told her we were new and realized we were here to practice. (There were ribbons to be had, but no points for anyone.) It was all together a much better experience than Saturday’s. Enough to get me to do this again sometime soon.

Indy & I are going to try to make a weekly trip to Rockford for more obedience and conformation work. I need it a lot, and I feel like I’ve really found someone that makes sense.

Thanks for all the well wishes and happy thoughts, everyone! You got us through a pretty stressful weekend.
