Why Swissies eat what they do…

Thursday, July 16th, 2009 | Gryffindor

I need the answer to that question. Really, I do.

Two nights ago, Gryffin woke Dan up with rather frantic scratching to the gate at the bedroom door. When he got up to let him out, Gryffin ran downstairs at super high speeds not normally used by such a big guy, then he practically attacked the sliding door to get outside. He ate lots of grass, threw up, ate more, came inside and promptly threw up on the somewhat-new carpet on the stairs.

When I got up at the rather unpleasant hour I normally do, I found Gryffin’s pile of puke on the stairs. (I guess because it was Dan’s birthday, he figured he’d leave it for me. How nice.) When I examined it (it’s a necessity in my house), I found the culprit. I’m surprised he’d been acting completely normal for the last few days once I determined what it was.

It was the **used** sanitary pad from Indy’s diaper. EEEEWWWWWWWWWW.

No wonder he didn’t feel well. Once he got that out, he was all chipper.

And although I actually do understand the reason for dogs eating some of the strange things they do, it still makes no sense to me whatsoever.

What have your dogs eaten recently? I know of another Swissy who ate the human baby’s diaper and threw it up a week or so later. Yum.

The grossest thing Brownie has eaten (and she’s unfortunately no Swissy), is a very dead, very squished, and very gross toad.

Eww. I’m not sure if we’ve ever had a toad experience, but we’ve had squirrel tail, live baby bunny, horse poop, and various other gross things.
