I know that Mastiffs are not Swissies.

For those of you going to the IKC show in Chicago in February, or those in the area anyway, please consider going to the Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue fundraiser.

THE SLINGERS’ BALL is scheduled from 7:00 pm through 10:00 pm on Friday, February 20, 2009 and will be held at The Darkroom Lounge located at 2210 W. Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Tickets for the event will be $50 and will include an open bar with appetizers plus a DJ so plan to dance. Attendees must be 21 years of age and over – humans only. Tickets can be purchased via the GLMR website or checks can be sent payable to Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue, Inc., P.O. Box 618, West Branch, MI 48661-0618. A silent auction will be held during the benefit featuring hotel packages, dining, spa, dog related items and much more.

The Mastiff is a kind, gentle, devoted, loving family member. The GLMR program dedicates itself to finding good permanent homes for Mastiffs that have been abandoned, misplaced, abused and/or neglected. These wonderful Mastiffs come from shelters and/or owners who can no longer care for them. They place approximately 60 plus Mastiffs annually in our region. Every Mastiff that goes through GLMR is spayed or neutered, given medical examinations and vaccinated prior to being re-homed. Temperaments are evaluated by knowledgeable breed representatives. When it is deemed appropriate, even serious medical & surgical conditions are undertaken at GLMR’s expense.
