More class

First off, I should apologize for my lack of posting this week. It’s been a busy week, and the next week or to promises to be the same. And then we leave for Peru. It’s probably safe to say that I will not be doing much posting in June, but I will do as much as I can.
Moving on…
Thursday nights in our house, at least for another week or two, mean Cautious Canine Class! But you knew that already, didn’t you? Last night was week 6. It should have been week 7, but they canceled one class, which means we have to make one up after we get back from Peru.
The “other” dog in the class, Izzy, and her humans finally showed up again last night. I thought we were going to have another private class. But it was great having another dog there, as it means more people and more distractions. We did the standard stuff. The same woman who tried to pet Indy on her head last week tried again this week, but I stopped her. I still can’t get Indy to go into the area where they have Agility from the parking lot side, but she’ll go in when she’s already in the building. We had a little dog that is supposedly always friendly with everyone and everything launch on Indy. Twice. She didn’t get scared, but gave me the WTF look.
Something new happened last night. There was a room full of dogs in “evening” care. Maybe they were a bunch of the trainers dogs, I don’t know. But they were loose in a room. When we walked outside the building and approached that area, they all howled, barked, screamed and clawed/jumped at the windows. This went on for about 5 minutes, and Indy was getting nervous. We tried to go in that side of the building, but she wanted out immediately. I’ve never seen her get nervous with dogs before, but I suppose this was beyond anything she’s experienced.
This Sunday is a 5K walk for the Hinsdale Humane Society. It’s supposed to rain, so I’m not sure how it will work out, but I’m looking forward to continuing Indy’s shy dog training while we’re there. I think I’ll be telling quite a few people not to pet her.
