How do you get stain off of a Swissy?

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 | Gryffindor

While I was off being the silly dog show girl, Dan was working around the house. The dogs have ruined the carpet and the padding upstairs, so we’re getting new carpet next week. This has spawned a kind of fall cleanup initiative since we have to empty out the closets and remove the books from the shelves to get them moved.

We don’t have carpeting downstairs. Instead, we have this beautiful hand-scraped, heart pine floor. The dogs can scratch it up, Dan applies stain here and there, and it looks better (akshully). Dan got a whole new can of stain to touch up all the spots and had just started working when neighbor boy stopped by to do the weekly dog poop cleanup. Gryffin got all excited (shocking, I know), stepped in the FULL can, knocked it over and then I believe he sat in it. Dan must have been angry beyond words (or at least words that I’ll type here), because Gryffin got up on the couch with a stain-covered arse. So now we have a stain covered couch.

Because of the spillage, most of our first floor got more of a touch up than Dan initially intended. It looks really nice. I determined that the best way to remove stain from the Swissy is by waiting until it is dry then brushing it off wherever possible. It’s not a great option for the paws, so those will just have to get cleaner over time.

It’s a good thing the stain color is a good match for Gryffin.

If anyone has any leads on good couch sales, please let me know!
