Hotel Review

Today, I have a guest poster reviewing a stay at a Staybridge Suites hotel.
We drove from Monterrey, Mexico to Dallas, Texas in January. The drive is about 12 hours (plus time for crossing the border), so we decided to stay the night in San Antonio, Texas. My husband belongs to Priority Club Rewards because he travels for his job. He used some points to pay for a night at the Staybridge Suites in La Cantera, San Antonio. Staybridge is part of the Holiday Inn family.
Our superb experience began with the ease of paying with his Priority card. No problem at all. Once we finally arrived at Staybridge it was 1am. We waited five hours at the border and were exhausted. My husband (Memo) went inside to check us in while Tsaphah (our boxer/mastiff) and I took a quick break so that we could just crash once we got to our room. Well, Tsaphah and I finished long before Memo did, so I left T-dog in charge of the car and ran in to see what the hold-up was. Well, it seems they had canceled our reservation four hours earlier, chalking us up as a “no show” even though Memo had noted online as he made the reservation that we would be arriving very late. The Staybridge employee couldn’t figure out how to charge us the $75 doggie fee, even though we were ready with money in hand!
Now, in any other hotel or place of business, I think this could have ruined the whole experience…but not at Staybridge! This was the only hitch in our “giddy-up.” The employee gave us a room key and waived the doggie fee…$75!! We grabbed our bag and Tsaphah and rode up to the 3rd floor. The first thing we noticed was how good it smelled. Yes, that’s right! It wasn’t a heavy, floral, chemical smell either. It was a nice, warm cinnamon smell all over the hotel. The elevator and all of the hallways were super-clean. Everything looked brand-new. The décor of the hotel was elegant.
Our executive suite was amazing! It was spacious and cozy at the same time. We had a kitchen with sink, dishes, ‘fridge, micro and a dishwasher! There was also a nice sized work table, sofa, a flatscreen inside it’s armoire, and a king-sized bed. The bathroom counter was a beautiful marble with a huge, hanging, picture mirror. There was a good-sized shelving unit in the closet for longer stays. All of the furniture was very beautiful and inviting.
Tsaphah is on a “raw” diet and I easily prepared his dinner and served him in the kitchen. We threw his blanket over the couch and let him sleep there, although he preferred the floor, haha!
This was by far my most preferred experience in all of my travels. In all honesty, I feel I should share that although my husband thoroughly enjoyed our stay as well, he DID say that he has stayed in suites even nicer than this one. All I can say is wow! The next time we travel together again, we will definitely be looking for a Staybridge.
