Getting the shyness out of the Swissy

Today, I decided to work on breaking Indy of her shyness. I took her, by herself, on a 3 mile walk through the area. Somewhere around mile 2, I stopped in the Hapkido school that Dan & I attend as it was between the kids and adults morning class times. I figured she’d be in a strange environment with mostly strange people, and it would be good training for her.

When we walked into the school, it was Dan and a couple other men. Indy got all barky and ferocious with Dan because she didn’t recognize him for a minute. Then she realized who it was and seemed to get rather embarrassed. It was quite amusing.

A few minutes later, a lady who teaches boot camp classes in the back of the school walked out and Indy just loved her. Sadly, I did not remember I had my camera with me. Then 2 girls, Amy & Susan came in, and it became very obvious the Indy loves girls, but is nervous around guys.

We made our final stop at Happy Dog Barkery in downtown Downers Grove. I think it’s safe to say that it’s all area dogs favorite store. They have home made dog treats there, premium dog foods, some cat foods, and various other bits and pieces. Indy loves getting treats there.

I’d say we made some great progress today!
