Well, we’re back!
After a week and a half out of town, we returned on Monday afternoon. We were welcomed home by 2 exuberant Swissies and 1 happy, waggy Basset. The happiness continued for only 5 minutes or so. After that, they went back to their normal schedule, which is mainly sleeping and barking. I guess it means they had a good time and were well cared for by our dog sitter. I can’t complain.
I really missed them. There are many, many strays in Peru, so I was constantly seeing dogs. For the most part, they were friendly, but you needed to take care. For every dog on a leash that we saw, there were another 20 strays. They seem to do very well.
This little bugger was one of our neighborhood dogs. I tried to give him a breakfast roll one day, but he wasn’t that interested. I guess he got better food elsewhere.
There was another dog (Wheaten Terrier, I think) that hung out with us at an outdoor restaurant. Lucky for him, I had more food than I could handle that day, so he got my leftover pork cracklings.
