Litter Mates and Swissy Friends

I hate that I’m doing another run free post. And I hate that the world has lost another Swissy to epilepsy.
Cole, who owned one of the humans on my dog forum, went to the Rainbow Bridge on Thursday. He was only 4. If Natalie lived anywhere near me, she’d hear me crying for a Swissy I’ve never met. My heart breaks for her and her husband, and I know there is nothing I can say or do that will help in the slightest. But let’s all send them love and healing thoughts (all 4 of you) to Natalie and her family.
Run free, Cole. You were loved.

Congrats to Sara and her Swissy, Thea, for winning our anniversary contest! There were a number of people who got the same number of answers (hmm, all of them) correct, so we drew randomly from those people.
Thea (and Sara) will receive the K9 Cube plus Indy’s favorite today (the magic mushroom) and Ozzy’s favorite toy (Indy? Wait, no. It’s a squeaky…) for Thea to enjoy.
Congrats! We expect playtime pictures.

We had a visit from a cute little puppy named Hobbes on Sunday. And his sister Juli. And her humans. And Vasey and one of her humans.
Hobbes is 9 weeks old, and reminds me a lot of Ozzy as a puppy. He’s confident, but not arrogant. Friendly, but not pushy. I think he will turn out to be a fantastic boy. I will probably steal him once he’s house trained. OK, maybe we’ll just visit with him.
This little bugger is Hobbes.
And this gorgeous girl is Juli.
Hobbes was not afraid to chew on Ozzy. Which is good. Ozzy needs some payback from when he was a little bugger.
Hobbes was quick to find the favorite puppy spot.
And was wondering who that handsome puppy in the window was.
He’s already got a great smile.
Oh, hey. I did take pictures of my dogs.
But Hobbes is a puppy. Have I mentioned that?
He found a nice, dirty bone to chew on. (Don’t worry, that’s just dirt.)
When Vasey arrived, there were some seriously silly faces.
And I believe someone likes mud.
Pretty girl Vasey.
And once again, the cute puppy posing.
Thanks for looking!

We were lucky enough to go visit our Swissy friend, Juli, at her house yesterday. It was a bit toasty, but a good time was still had by all.
You might think that 95+ degree weather with Swiss Mountain Dogs means no pics, but I was still presented with several good photo opps. There just isn’t much movement…
This is Juli. She is almost 2 now. And one of my favorite girl dogs.
You remember Ozzy, right?
And my favorite girl dog, Indy.
This is Bruno. He likes water, apparently.
Actually, he kept trying to roll himself into the water like it was raccoon poop or something that he could use for scenting his body. I don’t think it ever quite worked as he planned, but I’m guessing it kept him cool.
Here’s a better look at Bruno.
This is Bruno’s sister, Lucy. They are around 9 months old.
Ozzy found a nice cool spot under a bush on top of some hostas. He looks as happy as a pig in poop, doesn’t he?
I think maybe we’ll split some of ours and bring them over to replace what Ozzy trampled.
Bruno really enjoyed the water.
But he also managed to get Ozzy from under the bush for a little play time.
See? There was actually a little bit of playing.
Then Ozzy went back to his cool spot.
Indy snuck in once too.
Here’s a happy Juli in her yard.
I’m not sure why, but I really like this shot.
Love me! And give me your beer.
And after a while, we packed up the dogs and went back to the ‘burbs. And we cranked the AC.
Thanks to Juli and her humans for hosting a great day!

This will be the 3rd straight year that I will participate in Bark in the Park! It’s Indy’s 2nd time, and Ozzy’s 1st. Please make a sacrifice to the weather gods today so that we don’t get poured on tomorrow. We will be attending rain or shine!
Fido to Go is Chicago’s premier gourmutt food truck serving hand-crafted canine cookies & doggy ice creams! Find us out and about at the city’s dog parks, beaches, and special events. We are also available to cater doggy parties and can even provide the games, activities, and photographer!
I’m excited to see the truck in action! I know Indy and Ozzy will be too.
If you’re out at Bark in the Park tomorrow, come find the Swissies and say hi!

Can you believe it? Our baby boy turned 1 today!
It’s been a celebratory weekend for him that included his Ring Ready Obedience class at Wiggles and Wags (with his favorite trainer, Julie), a nice walk, a play date with Vasey, some toys and cake from Happy Dog Barkery. So it’s been a great weekend for Ozzy. I would say he probably feels pretty special, but I think he normally thinks that everything is about him anyway. Typical male.
Here are some pics for you. Enjoy!
Here’s the birthday boy himself outside enjoying the nice weather.
Swissies are silly.
Vasey would try to relax periodically.
So would Indy.
Bad picture, good faces.
Someone might have a new girlfriend!
As I mentioned, there was cake…
Although a certain someone made a complete mess.
Thanks for looking!

Since Friday was Indy’s 3rd birthday, we had cake! We were lucky enough to have her littermate, Vasey join us for cake and a little play time.
I tried it. The frosting was pretty darn good – it had a little honey in it. The cake part was not sweet at all, but still tasty.
Of the three dogs, Indy is the only one with several Barkery cakes under her belt. She knows how to jump right in and eat it up.
Vasey and Ozzy had the same idea – start by licking off the frosting.
That plan makes it last longer, which means tormented Indy.
Then it was gone, and they had happy bellies.
They did play a bit.
But this was definitely a food-centered evening.
